Blackfoot Reservation Needs Immediate Help

Subject: Blacfeet Reservation Emergency

Osda Sunalei,

Yesterday I received a call from Doug Lewis, our Cal-Pac UMCOR / Disaster Coor. Due to excessive snow, since December, many on the Blackfeet Reservation have been cut off. Recently they received over 14 ft of snow. The Rev. Calvin Hill, UMC, was contacted by the Blackfeet Nation seeking trusted assistance. UMCOR provided a $10,000 emergency grant for heating wood; logistics are being worked out to distribute this emergency need.

Next are a variety of supplies and food stuffs needed. Western Jurisdiction UMCOR Coordinators held a conference call yesterday, and following that NAUMC was contacted as a heads up. There will be 2 opportunities to provide financial assistance through the Yellowstone Annual Conference and/or UMCOR. This Sunday NAUMC will have a blanket offering for this emergency need, sending funds directly to the Yellowstone Annual Conf. Next, the already scheduled special UMCOR Sunday will be Mar. 11.

Ways to help:

Financial Support can be directed to the Yellowstone Annual Conference, UMC, earmarking gifts for Blackfeet Nation Snow Emergency
Yellowstone Annual Conf., UMC
P.O. Box 2035
Billings, MT 59104
(make checks payable to Yellowstone Annual Conference, UMC)

Give this Sunday, Feb. 25, for immediate needs

Support UMCOR Sunday, March 11, as United Methodist Committee On Relief will continue to be involved in ongoing needs.

What else is happening: The National Guard and other organizations are working to distribute needed supplies. UMCOR has taken on a leading role as requested by the Blackfeet Nation.

  1. Pastor Greg
Greetings in the Name of our Lord,
I am a local pastor (ret.) of Malone UMC, Malone, FL and Friendship UMC, Gordon, AL. I am also Creek Indian. As you know, the General Conference will meet February 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri, to vote on one of three plans for the future of the United Methodist Church: The One Church Plan which is a part of the LGBTQ agenda; the Traditional Plan which is in the present Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church and goes along with the Word of God which says we honor the sanctity of marriage between one woman and one man; and the Connectional Plan which says that a church can be liberal toward LGBTQ or Conservative like the Traditional Plan and the clergy can be liberal or conservative. Each conference has delegates who will go to the General Conference 2019 and vote as to which plan will determine the future of the United Methodist Church. Would you be so kind as to give me the names of the delegation and the Chair Person of the delegation from your conference so that I can communicate with that person? We want the United Methodist Church to continue to be based on the Word of God and we, as Christians, follow the teachings of Jesus, not the ruling of the Supreme Court. Thank you in advance for this information. Please feel free to communicate with me: Reverend Barbara h. Ray, Alabama-West Florida Conference, email address: Blessings, my brother in Christ.
